Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how MAISON ADAMO collects, uses and protects the personal data of visitors to and customers of the MAISON ADAMO website, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”) and applicable Portuguese data protection law.

3. Categories of Personal Data

Depending on how a visitor or customer interacts with the website, MAISON ADAMO may process: identification and contact data (such as name, email address, delivery address and phone number, where provided); order data (products ordered, order history and order value); the content of communications sent to MAISON ADAMO (such as enquiries sent to hello@maisonadamo.eu or orders@maisonadamo.eu); and technical data generated by use of the website (such as IP address and browser information), to the extent this is collected by the site’s hosting infrastructure. MAISON ADAMO does not request or process special categories of personal data, and visitors and customers should not include such data in communications with MAISON ADAMO.

4. Purposes and Legal Bases of Processing

Personal data is processed for the following purposes:

(a) to process, fulfil and deliver an order, and to communicate with the customer about that order, on the basis that this processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with the customer, or to take steps at the customer’s request prior to entering into a contract;

(b) to comply with legal, tax and accounting obligations, on the basis that this processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation;

(c) to respond to enquiries sent to MAISON ADAMO, on the basis of MAISON ADAMO’s legitimate interest in providing customer service, or, where applicable, on the basis of consent;

(d) to prevent fraud and protect the security of the website and of MAISON ADAMO’s business, on the basis of MAISON ADAMO’s legitimate interest in doing so.

MAISON ADAMO does not treat order fulfilment as based on consent — the data necessary to process and fulfil an order is processed on a contractual/legal basis, as set out above. Where processing is, in a specific case, based on consent, the customer may withdraw that consent at any time, as described in Section 12.

5. Order Processing

Personal data provided when placing an order — such as name, delivery address and contact details — is used to process and fulfil that order, including quality inspection, dispatch and delivery, and to communicate with the customer about the status of the order.

6. Customer Communications

When a customer or visitor contacts MAISON ADAMO by email, the content of that communication and the sender’s contact details are processed in order to respond to the enquiry and, where relevant, to keep a record of the communication for customer service and legal purposes.

7. Legal and Accounting Obligations

MAISON ADAMO processes order and invoicing data as necessary to comply with applicable tax, accounting and commercial record-keeping obligations under Portuguese and EU law.

8. Fraud Prevention and Security

Where necessary, MAISON ADAMO may process order and technical data to detect and prevent fraud, unauthorised access and other misuse of the website, on the basis of its legitimate interest in protecting its business, its customers and its systems.

9. Recipients and Processors

Personal data may be shared with service providers that act on MAISON ADAMO’s behalf and under its instructions. MAISON ADAMO uses Shopify as its e-commerce platform for checkout and related order processing, and Shopify Payments for payment processing. Personal data may also be shared with hosting providers and, once connected, shipping / logistics platforms. MAISON ADAMO does not sell personal data to third parties.

At this stage, MAISON ADAMO does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or any other third-party analytics or advertising tracker, and does not currently have PayPal, Klarna or Stripe connected. This Policy will be updated before any such tool or provider is enabled.

10. International Transfers

Some of the service providers used by MAISON ADAMO may process personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA).

Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, such transfers will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection law and, where required, appropriate safeguards or recognised transfer mechanisms will apply.

11. Data Retention

Personal data is retained only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including any applicable statutory retention period for tax, accounting and commercial records under Portuguese law. Data relating to an enquiry that does not result in an order is retained only for as long as necessary to address that enquiry, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

12. Data Subject Rights

Subject to the conditions set out in applicable data protection law, a customer or visitor has the right to: request access to their personal data; request rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data; request erasure of their data; request restriction of processing; object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interest; request portability of data provided to MAISON ADAMO, where technically feasible; and withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal, where processing is based on consent.

14. Changes to this Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time, in particular to reflect changes in MAISON ADAMO’s processing activities or in applicable law. The version published on this page is the version currently in effect.
